Ajith's "Mankatha" is an action adventure::::

After films like Chennai 600028, Saroja and Goa, little did we know that Venkat Prabhu would make a big bang even before his next film goes on floors! Soon after the release of Goa, Venkat started working on his next project and it turned out to be Ajith’s 50th film. Dhayanidhi Alagari came forward to produce the film on his Cloud Nine movies banner. First it was named Mangaatha; then it was changed to Mankatha following the suggestion of a numerologist. After months of speculation, Venkat Prabhu has revealed some details about his upcoming film which has been the talk of the town.

“Mankatha is an action adventure and also a tale of friendship,” says Venkat Prabhu. The film is a mega multistarrer which also has Nagarjuna, Manchu Manoj, Ganesh Venkatraman, Mahaat and Premgi in lead roles. The huge star cast has given a big boost to Venkat’s confidence and he’s planning to make it in both Tamil and Telugu. The shooting of the film will begin in September after Venkat completes fine tuning the script. The film itself was launched on August 2nd and a trailer was also shot on the same day. Although there was a buzz that Neetu Chandra and Lakshmi Rai have been signed as the female leads, Venkat Prabhu hasn’t confirmed the reports.

Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the music. Mankatha will be Nagarjuna direct Tamil film in more than 13 years. He had played the lead role in Ratchagan which was released back in 1997. What’s more interesting is that, Venkat Prabhu has revealed that the film will be treated on the lines of Bourne Ultimatum. We can’t wait to catch a glimpse of this film on August 20. The trailer of this film will be screened along with Karthi, Kajal starrer Naan Mahan Alla which is being released by Dayanidhi Alagiri on Cloud Nine Movies banne

K.S. Ravikumar is a busy man wrapping up the schedule for Manmadhan Ambu. While most of the filming was canned with the actors on a cruise and in places like Spain, the final schedule of shooting is being held in Kodaikanal. It was earlier announced that Trisha and Madhavan were in Kodai for shooting. While Trisha had a couple of days off, she took a quick flight back to Chennai to be with her family.

It so happened that Kamal was in Kodai as part of the schedule. Trisha knew about this when she returned to Kodai after three days. What a miss that was Trisha. Well, in any case, Manmadhan Ambu is nearly complete and post-production work of the movie is to start soon. We can be rest assured that our funny bones will be tickled with Crazy Mohan and Kamal teaming up with KS. Ravikumar.

STR, we all know, flew to London a few days back to fulfill his commitment for his next movie Poda Podi. If you thought STR will become a Londoner during the 40 days of shooting, you are wrong. STR is not the one to miss out on Kollywood proceedings. He is always in touch with the latest happenings through internet and friends in Chennai. A good example for this is his tweet a couple of days back which read "Guys pls update me on the latest tamil release and reports".

Now, having seen the teaser of Mankatha, which was released on the 20th of August, STR is mighty pleased. His latest tweet on his page reads "Mankatha teaser is awesome !!! Very gud ma :)". Known for his appreciation for his senior stars, STR seems to be very impressed. We are sure he will be waiting to get back to Chennai to watch the premiere of latest Tamil movies.

'Naan Mahaan Alla' a realistic thriller

Drugs, sex and murder in succession form the premise of this film. This fast-paced thriller has all the elements in the right place and in the right proportion. The film that is based in Chennai deals with the exploitations of city life. The racy and fun first half holds enough scope for humor, sentiments and also readies the audience for the later half. The first half is light, as you come to know more about the protagonist, his life and the people connected to him. The second half sets out on a frightful edge-of-the-seat journey with twists and turns until the protagonist fixes the puzzle.

The sequences in the latter half where the protagonist played by Karthi woos his lady love Kajal Agrawal, or convincing a goonda sent by the girl’s father of his true love and the hero’s antics as a bank collection agent has the audience in splits. It also shows the vulnerability of the character played. Every character in the film is portrayed with realism.

Karthi lives up to the hype which has surrounded this project like all his previous films. His face expresses his innocence in the first half and gruesome transformation of character post interval. Kajal Agrawal as Karthi’s lover plays her bit with conviction. The surprise delivery by Thanjai Mahendran and friends who play the circumstantial antagonist as dangerous, cruel, misled young men who are easily mistaken by the innocence on their faces are to lookout for.

This closer-to-life film is directed by Suseenthiran and produced by K.E Gnanavelraja. The film is distributed by Dayanidhi Azhagiri’s Cloud Nine films. The music by Yuvan Shankar Raja has a feel-good flavour. The song picturisation and implementation is contextual

Well, the actress was catching a show of the Karthi-Kajal Aggarwal-starrer Naan Mahaan Alla, directed by Suseenthiran, at a city theatre. And when the trailer of Venkat Prabhu’s Mankatha,which happens to be her hubby dear’s 50th film, was screened, she was on the edge of her seat, watching the trailer in rapt attention. SUNDAY BLUES!

Music director Yuvan Shankar Raja seems to be a busy man these days. The composer recently recorded a pathos number for Bala’s Avan Ivan, starring Arya and Vishal in the lead.

The song was sung by Vijay Prakash, who shot to fame in Kollywood with intense numbers like Om Siva Om… (Naan Kadavul), Hosanna… (Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa) and Veera… (Raavanan). Yuvan tweeted, “It’s very intense, I like it. It will be awesome with his (Bala’s) visuals!”

The composer has also finished work on the teaser score for his cousin Venkat Prabhu’s Mankatha. “It’s time to play mankatha!!!!!!! Teaser will be out with Naan Mahan Alla movie, it’s come out well. Happy about it!!” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Yuvan was also busy discussing his plans for a show in the city, with his fans and friends online. With so much work to do, the composer is even working on Sundays, which he normally avoids. “I love to chill on Sundays, but deadlines! Need to work!” he tweeted.

Mankatha shooting from September 5 in Chennai

Thala countdown starts now. The entire fans across the globe are curiously waiting for the biggest project in Thala’s career. In fact, once Dayanidhi Azhagiri of Cloud Nine Productions mentioned that it will be the costliest project ever made in the career of Thala, the expectations have gone higher than before.

The film’s shooting will commence on September 5 in Chennai and after couple of weeks, the entire crew will be flying down to foreign countries for the shooting.

Yuvan Shankar Raja has already started composing music for the film.

Today, Venkat Prabhu has flown down to Hyderabad for discussing the final touch of script works and obtaining call sheet schedules of Nagarjuna, who is playing another lead character in this movie.

Naan Mahan Alla: No fight till climax?

With bookings for Karthi starrer ‘Nan Mahan Alla’, directed by Suseenthiran and produced by Studio Green and Cloud Nine Movies, opening tomorrow, the film has been catching attention in all possible ways.

Buzz is that the movie is a thriller set in the backdrop of north Chennai, but with no fights till the climax. “Suseenthiran has ensured that there are no stunt sequences just as the protagonist comes across the baddie,” sources say.

“At the same time, there will no be lag in the screenplay and the film will be racy from the word go,” they say and add: “the essential twist comes during the interval which would leave the audience in awe.”

Sources also have it that Kajal Agarwal, heroine of the movie, has come out with a commendable performance. “Equally so is Karthi. He will become an important force in Tamil cinema after the film’s release.”
